Dads in 41 cities across the US and three countries will gather on June 17th to celebrate Fathers Eve – the night before Father’s Day.
Thousands of dads in cities across the U.S. will get together on June 17th to celebrate being dads – and add important energy to Fathers Eve, a new and growing holiday. Fathers Eve was started by John Francis in his garage in Saint Paul, MN in 2012. He used the night before Father’s Day as a time to bring friends together who were also dads to share how each was doing raising their kids and supporting their families. It’s about dads who want to be better fathers, while also knowing that they don’t have all the answers.
John’s goal was to bring friends together in a way that was supportive and fun. It helped him get ideas and support from other dads as he raises his daughters. The energy from the first event in the garage has now expanded to coordinated events in 41 different cities in the U.S. and two other countries. Many of the events also raise money for a non-profit in each community and as well as the National At-Home Dad Network.
“Gathering the night before Father’s Day is a way to help dads of all ages spend time with each other to share experiences, support what it means to be better dads, make stronger connections, all while doing something good for the community. I am beyond happy that dads around the country will be able to gather at their Fathers Eve celebration to help make each other and their community stronger.” John Francis, Founder of Fathers Eve
Where is this incredible night out?
The flagship Fathers Eve event will be held again in Saint Paul, MN. At the same time, dads in cities across the country, including Las Vegas, will hold their own event.
The Las Vegas festivities will be held at the Parkway Tavern on Marks St., in Henderson. There will be drink specials, door prizes from Local and National sponsors, and some great camaraderie.
“We are excited to be part of Fathers Eve again this year, and to be able to bring dads here together,” said Kevin Zelenka, organizer of the Vegas Dads Group. “Being a dad is amazing but there are times when you want to know if you are doing the right thing or how to solve a problem. A night like this also really gives us the chance to get out and celebrate being fathers.” Kevin started the local dads group, which has over 200 members, four years ago when his twin sons were born.
Supporting the community
Francis and his team are making sure Fathers Eve events benefit a national organization as well as a group in each community. This new effort with national programs still focuses on the goal of making connections to support dads. The Fathers Eve national sponsor is The At-Home Dad Network, an organization providing support, education and advocacy for dads who are primary caregivers to their children.
