Halloween Switch Witch

I will be inviting our favorite witch over on Halloween night, well after the kids have gone to sleep.  Who is this witch?  The Switch Witch of course!  Some call her the Candy Fairy as well, but I decided on the witch for our home.  This wonderful witch is much like the tooth fairy, I suspect they may even be close friends.  After the several trunk or treat event and blocks of houses visited for the sole purpose of gather candy is finished, it’s time to perform a magic disappearing act!

The Switch Witch poem

My kids often use the candy they gathered while trick or treating to give out to kids who visit our home on Halloween Night.  I have to admit, it was their idea!  I simply love how giving they are…..after they pick out all their favorite pieces of course 🙂  Even after the light is turned off and the pumpkins blown out, we have more then enough candy for the Switch Witch to come switch out.  As they get ready for bed, the girls talk about what switch gifts they are hoping for.

Ready to try it yourself? Here are some tips to get the broomstick flying:

  • Tell you kids about the Switch Witch before you go out and gather candy.  It can be disappointing to hear it’s going to disappear….how much disappears is purely up to you!
  • Decide what your Switch Witch will be switching for; money, trinkets, something bigger.  Planning ahead is best.
  • Gift ideas; stickers, crayons, bubbles, color books, jump ropes, balloons, etc…. I pretty much raid The Dollar Spot at Target 🙂
  • Once you’ve got it all bagged up, look to get it out of your house ASAP!  Kids have candy radar.  Either donate it or bring it to work to share 🙂

Please share any local places who will be taking candy donations for us all to see!
