What are Magnet Schools programs?
Magnet schools are part of the Clark County School District public school system. Unlike the public schools where students are zoned by address, magnet schools require students to apply or enter a lottery for admission.
The application deadline for all 2024-2025 school year applicants is January 9, 2024 at 3pm.
Magnet Schools offer specialized learning themes for students who have unique interests. They utilize student interests to diversify their curriculum. Magnet Schools create awareness of various career pathways and identify, develop, and nurture students’ talents.
Who can apply for a magnet school?
Students going into Kindergarten through 10th grade for the 2024-2025 school year.
To apply for kindergarten, your student(s) must be 5 years of age on or before the first day of the school year.
LVA, DSA, and some International Baccalaureate (IB) programs also accept applications for 11th grade.

Selection for Magnet Schools in Clark County School District are lottery based for most elementary and middle schools, but many high schools have auditions and criteria that must be met before submitting an application.
New Magnet Middle Schools for 2024 – 2025 School Year
Lyal Burkholder Middle School and Carroll M. Johnston Middle School in Las Vegas are set to transform into magnet schools, thanks to a substantial $15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education. These two schools will join the impressive roster of 42 magnet schools in CCSD, with the aim of providing students with more options and an enhanced educational experience.
