Las Vegas Schools - Teacher Support
Sponsored by The Bagel Nook
Support local teachers and their classes by purchasing from one of these teacher wish lists and be entered to win a YEAR OF BAGELS from The Bagel Nook.
COMPLETE CONTEST DETAILS CAN BE FOUND HERE
Clark County School District will start the school year on August 7, 2023. As local teachers prepare for the beginning of the school year and their new students, they are most often left funding classroom decor and supplies themselves. More than 90% of teachers will spend their own money on supplies for their students and classroom, on average around $750 each.
Teachers work during the summer and before the beginning of the school year to create classroom environment that will help our children succeed in their education and personal growth.
Nevada has one of the lowest per student funding in the country, coming in just over $11,000 for the 2023-2024 school year, compared to more than $28,000 per student in the state of New York.
There is no spending allowance provided to Nevada teachers from the state and Clark County School District doesn’t provide an allowance to teachers either. If any funding is provided for teacher supplies it comes from the school budget or from fundraising by the school or organizations like the PTA. We spoke with several Clark County teachers and learned that general education teachers receive less than $200 each year toward supplies, if they receive any funds at all. Teachers are responsible for the education of our children and need community support.
We asked local teachers to send in their wish lists and received more than 300 so far. Each teacher provided a description of their classroom and their Amazon wish list. Please consider supporting a local teacher if you are able. Scroll through the lists below and see if there is a classroom that sparks your interest.

I’m a first year teacher! I’m still trying to figure out what will be useful in a classroom. 🙂 I don’t even know what I don’t need.
I’m a second year teacher for 2nd grade and I’d really love to have more manipulatives, games and puzzles for my students. They love working with hands on activities.
I am blessed to serve kids with great attitudes and that really want to excel in life, they are from hardworking families but unfortunately over 90% of my students live at or below the poverty line.
This is my 2nd year teaching STEM as a special at my school. We just implemented this program into our school. It gives students a chance to use critical thinking skills along with lots of technology that I am trying to bring into the classroom. Students are learning to code and interact with one another to program devices. We also have a makers space where students get to create and work through problem solving to create ways to solve real world problems.
I am opening a new primary autism program with primarily kindergarten students. I would love to provide them with these materials to have opportunities for differentiated instruction and growth!
I have a great group of students who are always eager to learn new things. With our school being Title 1, many of my students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Over 70% of my students are Hispanic with English being their second language. Having such a diverse group, has made it fun and challenging at times. Despite all our challenges, this group has proven that they can overcome anything so long as they are given the opportunity to do it.
I teach 1st grade in Henderson, NV! This will be my 6th year teaching first grade and my first graders have my heart! ❤️❤️ These supplies will help me create an organized and nurturing space for my students, as well as thoughtful small groups to meet my students needs! In the short time we are together, we become a family, and I pride myself in creating meaningful relationships with my students!
I teach first grade at a small elementary school in Henderson. I want my students to have all of the tools they need to be successful learners! First grade is a crucial time for reading and math development. I am so grateful for any supplies I can use to aid my students learning!
I teach 4th grade. The switch to now being an upper grade is developmentally a big step for students. I have a ton of book series and games on my wishlists because students start to have friend troubles in fourth grade. Kids don’t forgive and forget as easily and some students find it extremely hard to make friends if they are newer.
My students are an amazing, vibrant group who are ready to learn and deserve the very best. Many of my students come to kindergarten without prior access to preschool. My ultimate goal is to have them reading, writing, adding, and subtracting by the time they leave kindergarten. These items will help me accomplish that in many different ways… from making my classroom more functional to having more books and hands-on items for them.

I teach kindergarten to a diverse group of students. I want to set the foundation for my students to love learning and become strong early readers. My school provides the classroom basics, but these materials will give my students more hands-on learning experiences.
I’m Courtney, a first grade teacher in Henderson, NV. This coming year will be my 16th year teaching first grade, and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome my new little classroom family! I strive to create a safe, nurturing classroom environment where all students feel valued and special. Creating a safe space for my students to identify and manage their emotions is vital for their mental health and overall well-being. These items will help my first grade students be successful in our classroom, while feeling safe and loved while learning.
Kindergarten classroom where students can learn, make friends, have fun, and most importantly, feel safe and loved.
I need things like your everyday school supplies to support my students as they learn this school year!
These supplies will be used for a title 1 school of amazing Kindergarteners! This is my first year in Kinder and want to make it the best experience I can for my students!!! Thank you!
I want my classroom to be a fun, safe environment for my students to grow, learn, and flourish. Purchasing anything from my wish list will help me accomplish this goal! Thank you for your help and support!
I pride myself in the ability of being able to build strong relationship with students. I want my classroom to look and be a place where a child feels safe and secure. I want it to be a place that they enjoy coming to. I work in a school with mostly low income families. This means that I have to expect to provide supplies for my students.
I come from a long line of teachers in my family. My mother recently retired from CCSD after 25 years of teaching first and second grade. This is my second-year teaching at a public school for CCSD. I teach at a Title I At Risk/High Needs Elementary school located in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
My schools “supply closet” is lacking to put it mildly. We have no PTA or parent involvement. We also probably have the most embarrassing school library (it’s only got 3 shelves-it’s a small library with not many Kinder friendly/AR grade level appropriate books). We don’t even have popular titles like Rainbowfish or the Biscuit Book series.
Most of my students’ families cannot provide school supplies so I end up having to purchase most of the supplies out of my personal pocketbook. Many of my students are also English language learners. Despite the challenges my students face in and out of the classroom, they come to school every day with a smile on their face eager and excited to learn.
As many of you know teachers can only write off $200.00 on their taxes and I spent over $2,500.00 out of my personal pocket last school year. Any donations no matter how small are appreciated for my Kindergarten classroom as well as all other teachers too.
I will be teaching the Leader in Me techniques. Since returning back to school after the pandemic many students are having a hard time adjusting. I am hoping to help them with social/emotional learning. I have a theater background and would like to introduce theater activities and video production to help them.
I teach Technology/Computer Science at a K-5 Title 1 school. I teach all 600 students at our school. I want to bring the possibilities of technology to my students through coding, robotics, media, graphic design, AR/VR, and AI. Exposing students to these technologies will help them become better digital citizens and build their skills and interests for potential future careers. I would also like to build up a class library of books about all things technology.
I am at a Title 1 school teaching little ones. Many of my students are below the poverty line and live in food deserts. I’d like to build them a garden to encourage healthy outdoor experiences and good food habits. We don’t have any nature on our playground, not even a tree! I’d like to introduce plant care and plant cycles too for science.
My classroom is a vibrant and organized space that fosters a love for learning. I want to provide my students with a wide range of educational resources, including books, and games, so my students have access to engaging materials that enhance their learning. Your support in fulfilling this wish list will greatly contribute to creating an enriching and dynamic classroom for my students.
I am a second grade teacher in the transformation network. It is a title 1 school. Any of the supplies on my wish list would be great but I am especially in need of crayons and the privacy boards.
Just needing help with the basics!
My kindergarten students work hard and come to school excited every day. I want to create a classroom where they can thrive and be independent. Sharing books is a great way to build relationships.
My classroom is filled with students with a love for learning and curiosity! I would love any of these items on my wish list to make this year fun and exciting! They range from supplies to treasure box rewards!
I teach ELL so all of my students are learning English. Because they’re in high school, I look for fun ways for them to learn quickly.
My classroom is a safe space for students to grow and learn. My students need supplies because many can’t afford to get their own. I also work hard to provide tools that help my students feel more comfortable in their seats.
I teach elementary art and see all 600 out of students, including three special education classes once a week. We go through so many consumables! Any and all help with my list will help me provide my students with awesome opportunities to become better artists and create works of art for our annual art show.
I have been teaching for twenty years. This year so am moving to a new school and will have a brand new class of first graders. Every year I spend a lot of money on my classroom to make learning fun and engaging for my little learners. I would love to get new reading tools to practice phonics skills, books, and materials to make our classroom a warm welcoming place for all my students.

My first graders are MONSTERS! They are Magnificent, Outstanding, Nice, Special, Terrific, Energetic, Responsible Students who love to LEARN! I teach these first grade monsters in Nevada and really need help with getting quality supplies/materials to help enrich their minds and provide them with the best education.
We are moving into a brand new building this year and I am so excited to have windows in my classroom for the first time in my career. I want my students to feel welcome into a room that has supplies they need to be creative and demonstrate learning. I want them to be interested in history and geography when they see the maps on the wall. Be intrigued by what is going to happen this upcoming year in my room.
I teach first grade. I love my tiny humans and will do anything for them. I push them to be the best they can be. My school population is changing. While we are in a decent area, more and more students have needs that we struggle to meet. We do not receive any extra title funding in our building. If we have any classroom needs we need to fundraise for them. My goal this year is to focus on social emotional growth and learning as well as computer science and coding. I cannot wait to get started with a new group of kiddos!!!!!
My science classroom is inquiry based we connect phenomena with hands on investigation. Supplies are needed to build onto my engineering units.
Trying to make my classroom more warm and cozy with a souped up calm corner and a few other nice to have items that make life easier for teachers and students.
I teach 3-5 year old preschoolers some special needs, some typically developing.
My students are very hardworking, but come from low income. They deserve to have full bellies and fun prizes for engagement! We use a treasure box system as incentives in my classroom. I also provide food/drinks as needed per student.
I would like my students to have a variety of hands on materials to reinforce what they are learning and to make learning fun.
My 2nd grade classroom is full of love and learning. My classroom Amazon list has some organizational items to help keep the learning smooth without the worry of, “Where did that go?” My list also has some student incentives that I use to reward my amazing students. Last, the list also has a bunch of books! 2nd grade is an essential time to share the love of literature with kids. It’s my goal every year to get the perfect book into the arch of my students’ hands that will spark that love of reading for the rest of their lives. Your contributions to our classroom are very appreciated!!
I work with a high ELL population and low income. I will be starting to teach in a dual language program to better support our Spanish community and cultivate the assets students bring with their culture into the classroom. I will be teaching the Spanish portion of the program to first grade. It’s my first year as an all Spanish teacher and I’m excited to better support our community.
I am looking to fill my supply list for the beginning of the year at my Title 1school. Many of my families work multiple jobs and I would like to ease the burden of purchasing supplies.
I want my students to have the resources to be creative. I have been encouraging them to learn 3D printing and providing the resources for them thanks to donations but it’s getting harder to keep the program free.
Big students are so inspired and they learn so much critical thinking troubleshooting how do you fix things all these skills that we want students to learn they learn by doing this in my classroom. And they become what I want them to be empowered confident in themselves and with the true belief and the evidence to back it up that they can do anything they try to do.
I teach our youngest students, Pre-K, in a highly ESL and socioeconomic impacted neighborhood.
My classroom is a place where all children feel welcomed, safe, loved, and inspired to be their best every day. As an educator, I strive to make life long relationships with my students and their families in order to best help them grow, learn, and achieve their goals. Our class will be forever grateful for any items purchased off of our list to make our space a happy and inviting place for everyone.
I teach art. I would like the students to be able to create pieces of art using different materials without having to worry if we are going to run out. Or we might be able to do an art project because there aren’t any supplies.
My classroom is wide open to possibilities. It is a large, open space to build both physical concepts and dreams. I want my students to push themselves to the limit and not be held back by the lack of tools or equipment. My students are building the future, they have the ideas, you have the funding to make the future a reality. Helps us change from virtual reality to the actual reality. Thank you!
I like to provide a welcoming space for my students and try to get their supplies for them before school starts to make it less stressful for everyone.
I need basic supplies for the classroom. Pre-sharpened pencils, pencil sharpeners, hanging files, color pencils, markers.
I work with students in reading intervention, Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
Floating bookshelves is a a major need for my class since we no longer have a book room and have to keep all the reading material in our classrooms. The buzzers for Jeopardy would also be appreciated. I bought some cheap ones from the dollar store, but they got jammed.
I teach second graders. They are sweet, ambitious little people who are eager to learn.

Basic school supplies are always needed for my students.
My students will be 3rd graders and will be departmentalized learning Math, Health, and Science. I will have two sets of students who are eager to learn.
I would like more of a hands on opportunity for my students this year for them to have a fun learning environment.
We are a Title 1 school and many of my students don’t come with necessary “more expensive” supplies. HEADPHONES would be such a great purchase as I have to get them for the students that don’t have them. Earbuds are cheaper buy uncomfortable if they are from the Dollar Tree. Good headphones are so needed!
I’m a 2nd year kindergarten teacher. I’m still building up my supplies and finding lots of hands-on materials for my class. I am moving to another school and some of the materials I had this past year I will not have in my new room. I am new to Bridger this year, my 8th year in district. I will be teaching girls PE. My coworker is also moving to Bridger. I was able to do summer school and assess our equipment, which lead to a very slim amount of useful items. We have been told the previous program did not foster activity, movement, learning or any fun. We would be thrilled to have some Omnikin Balls, new basketballs, soccer balls, gator skin balls, and personal hygiene products. We are a low income school, with students who will undoubtedly need those supplies, deodorant, feminine hygiene, soap. Anything that you would be willing to donate would be so appreciated, thank you for thinking of us all!!!
