NBA G League Ignite is a first-of-its-kind team dedicated to developing top young prospects in preparation for the NBA Draft. Based at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev., the roster includes elite players who are eligible for the NBA Draft and players in the early stages of their professional basketball careers as well as NBA and NBA G League veterans who serve as mentors to the team’s young talent. In addition to accelerated on-court development and competing toward an NBA G League Championship, the team focuses on life skills training that includes financial literacy education, community service involvement, and scholarship opportunities.
The NBA G League Ignite will play its preseason games against the Perth Wildcats.
Preseason games at The Dollar Loan Center are Wednesday, September 6 and Friday, September 8. Both games tip off at 6pm.
The matchup will spotlight top NBA Draft prospects among both teams. McDonald’s All-Americans Matas Buselis and Ron Holland, who are projected by ESPN as top 1- picks in the NBA Draft, highlight the G League Ignite’s roster, while the Wildcats feature top international talent including Alexandre Sarr, a projected top 20 selection in next year’s draft, and ESPN Four-star prospect Dontae Russon-Nance.
The NBA G League is the NBA’s official minor league, preparing players, coaches, officials, trainers, and front-office staff for the NBA while acting as the league’s research and development laboratory. Featuring 31 teams — 29 with one-to-one affiliations with NBA franchises — the league offers elite professional basketball at an affordable price in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. NBA G League Ignite also plays against G League competition.
The NBA G League features 31 teams. In 2021-22, the New Orleans Pelicans debuted the Birmingham Squadron in Birmingham, Ala., while the Detroit Pistons debuted the Motor City Cruise in Detroit, Mich. The Denver Nuggets’ hybrid affiliation with the Grand Rapids Drive began with the 2021-22 season, and Mexico City Capitanes made their G League debut in 2021-22. The 2022-23 season saw the Agua Caliente Clippers rename their franchise the Ontario Clippers, while G League Ignite revealed an updated logo as part of a visual rebrand. In 2023-24, the Lakeland Magic will rename their franchise the Osceola Magic, and the Portland Trail Blazers will debut their G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix.
The Dollar Loan Center is a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue conveniently located in Henderson, Nevada, that opened its doors in March 2022. The Dollar Loan Center is the home of the Henderson Silver Knights, the AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Vegas Knight Hawks of the Indoor Football League. The arena is also home to the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame, the Craggy Range Sports Bar and Grill and a team store.
