Spring and Summer Travel with Kids

Destination: Arizona

Most road trip destinations in Arizona are about a 5-hour drive or less. It’s beautiful in Phoenix this time of year so you can take advantage of plenty of outdoor activities. Flagstaff will still have chilly temperatures and maybe snow on the ground, but there is so much to do and see there. Arizona boasts some beautiful natural and state parks to check off your outdoor bucket list.

Phoenix and the surrounding area have plenty of amazing places to stay to fit every budget and family. Here are three of our top resorts when traveling to Phoenix. Why Phoenix for your spring and summer travel? The Arizona Grand

The Arizona Grand is an all-suite resort with one and two-bedroom suites to accommodate families of all sizes. The highlight of the property is a 7-acre water oasis complete with a side-by-side active river, a wave pool, multiple water slides, and Wild Cat Springs, a splash zone for smaller children. The Arizona Grand has 7 dining options including in-suite dining. 


Room rates in the spring and summer start at $229 and include passes to the water oasis. 


The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess 

7575 East Princess Drive, Scottsdale

Soak up the sun in one of six pools at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, including a white sandy beach, water slides, a splash pad, cabanas, and poolside dining. 

The property also features the Trailblazer Kids Club. This fun adventure option at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is open to all guests at no charge from 1pm – 5pm, or your child(ren) can enjoy a day there for $45. The Kids Club features fishing at the resort, basketball, and resident animals including a desert tortoise and a bearded dragon. The club takes children on adventures around the resort, engages in hands-on activities, and has giant life-size games including Pac-Man. 

Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort

11111 North 7th Street, Phoenix

This Hilton resort offers impressive amenities that of course include a huge pool complex. The Falls Water Village includes a 40-foot waterfall and a 138-foot waterslide.  The resort offers events and interactive fun for adults and children. Rooms start at $170 depending on your choice of dates and accommodations. 

Great Wolf Lodge Scottsdale

A favorite destination for families, Great Wolf Lodge is a kid’s ultimate water playground. The indoor pool complex, heated to a perfect 84º, includes a wave pool, multiple water slides, a lazy river, a splash pad, and more fun activities. In addition to the pool, Great Wolf Lodge Scottsdale has a climbing wall, ropes course, miniature bowling, and a mining feature, plus the resort’s famous MagiQuest game that takes kids around the resort on a magical adventure. 

Great Wolf Lodge has themed events including story times, yoga, dance parties, and good night story times for the kids, all included in the price of the room.

Children’s Museum of Phoenix

The three floors of interactive experiences include an art room, building blocks, a reading nook, a children’s garden, a giant climbing structure, a drama theater, a noodle forest, a playground, a market for play, toddler rooms and so much more.

The Arizona Science Center

The Arizona Science Center has a planetarium, an interactive and collaborative space for creation, the Flight Zone, a Sky Bike, and 7 more permanent exhibits. This engaging experience has been named one of the science centers in the nation. 

McCormick Stillman Railroad Park 

Ride the Paradise and Pacific Railroad, enjoy a spin on the beautiful Scottsdale Charros Carousel, and enjoy the Arboretum Train that runs on Saturday and Sunday. Rides are $3 each or $12 for an all-day wristband.

Andretti Indoor Carting

Just opened in Chandler this entertainment center offers indoor karting, an arcade, VR experiences, laser tag, bowling, and much more. There is an onsite restaurant and bar for refueling.

Pecan Lake

This brand-new entertainment complex is packed with adventure for everyone. There is a ropes course, a botanical garden, a putting course, axe throwing, a karaoke booth, a 4D VR Experience, and an escape room.
