22nd Annual Day of the Dead Festival: Life in Death

Clark County Parks and Recreation presents “Life in Death: Day of the Dead,” a two-day festival featuring displays, an art exhibit, performances, craft sales, and food vendors at Winchester Cultural Center and Park, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. The event will explore cultural traditions related to the Mexican holiday of El Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Admission to the festival is free.

Our event blends rich customs with exciting activities for all ages such as live theater and dance performances, music and mariachis, entertaining games, arts and crafts, food vendors, and much more.
A highlight of the event is the display of altars that local artists, residents, and community groups create to remember their dearly departed. Participants decorate the altars with photographs, poems and fun phrases, burning candles and incense, and offerings of their loved ones most cherished food and drinks. Event attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite altars and the “People’s Choice” winner will be announced at the conclusion of the festival.

Rock Rink presented by Live Nation! is back for 2023. The 8,000 square foot real-ice skating rink located near the Pavilion at The Lawn.
Skate under the stars set to the backdrop of festive holiday music and an impressive 40-foot glittering holiday tree overlooking the rink. Skate rentals start at $16, and all ages are welcome.
Stay warm with signature holiday beverages and snacks sure to please.
Don’t forget to ride the festive holiday train that runs through January 16 circling the ice-skating rink and holiday tree. Rides are $5.00 per adult and child.

Free Entrance to All National Parks

The kids are out of school Friday, November 10 (Veterans Day Observed), so make a weekend out of it and head to a National Park you’ve never experienced.
In Nevada this includes Death Valley National Park, Great Basin National Park and Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Tule Springs Fossil Beds is also included, but there is currently no admission fee for this park.
The Bureau of Land Management is also offering a fee-free day on November 11, 2023. In Las Vegas this applies to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Reservations for entry to the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop are still required for visits October through May between 8am and 5pm

Get in the holiday spirit at the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada’s annual Festival of Trees & Lights family viewing event on Saturday, November 25 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
Open to the public, the Festival of Trees & Lights is a free community event where guests have a chance to view and begin bidding on the decorated trees, wreaths, and gifts on display for auction.
Families can also enjoy light refreshments provided by Westgate Las Vegas as well as photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus. RSVP HERE.

The City of Henderson invites you to celebrate the holidays all month long; beginning with the annual kick-off, WinterFest!
This annual tradition returns with a special new feature: a drone show in the sky! The first night is the tree lighting ceremony and drone show.
The second night is the Lights Parade! There will be plenty of winter cheer along with a variety of holiday entertainment including the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, and festive illumination of holiday décor at the Water Street Plaza.
