Los Trompos at Fashion Show

As the Spanish translation to “the spinning tops”, Los Trompos takes inspiration from the fondly-remembered children’s game and takes it to new heights.

Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off Celebration

Come join Mayor Goynes-Brown and North Las Vegas City Council Members for the city’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff Celebration in Liberty Park! The event will feature the official ceremony of El Grito de Dolores led by the Consulate of Mexico in Las Vegas, and out-of-town headliners Carmen Jara, Los Anders and Frank Tapia. Local entertainers and mariachis from Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts and Monaco Middle School, who won North Las Vegas’ first annual School Mariachi Competition in March of this year, will also be performing. Food vendors will be on-site along with community organizations hosting interactive cultural activities. The city will also be presenting community awards and a proclamation proclaiming National Hispanic Heritage Month.

2023 Rookie Faceoff

September 15 – September 18
The Dollar Loan Center & City National Arena

The Vegas Golden Knights will be hosting the 2023 Rookie Faceoff presented by Martin-Harris Construction, with games played at City National Arena and The Dollar Loan Center. Top prospects from the Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, and San Jose Sharks will travel for the showcase from September 15-18.

Each of the six clubs participating will play three games during the annual event. The Golden Knights will play their first two games of the tournament in Henderson at The Dollar Loan Center on September 15 and 16, and the team’s third game will be played in Summerlin at City National Arena on September 18.

Due to limited capacity, all games at City National Arena during the 2023 Rookie Faceoff will be limited to select season-ticket members only. Each game of the tournament at both venues will be streamed live online for fans in each market. FOX Sports Las Vegas 98.9 FM/1340 AM will also broadcast all three games of the Golden Knights locally on radio.

The Henderson Symphony Orchestra will present Marvel Studios’ Black Panther in Concert featuring a screening of the complete film to the musical score performed live to the film. The concert will be led by conductor Alexandra Arrieche and master of the talking drum, Massamba Diop will accompany the orchestra for this special performance on the big screen at the Water Street Plaza. 

All-ages welcome! Seating is available first-come, first-serve. Guests are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets. The playground will be closed during this event.

Historic Westside School 100th Anniversary Festival

Parade starts at 10am. at the corner of H Street and Jackson Avenue and will proceed east on Jackson and then south on D Street, ending at the Historic Westside School at 330 W. Washington Ave. Enjoy marching bands and floats in the parade, followed by a community festival on the school grounds.

Bring the family to enjoy this free festival to celebrate the centennial of the opening of the Historic Westside School. Sponsored by the city of Las Vegas and the Westside School Alumni Foundation, the event will offer entertainment, vendors, refreshments for sale and more.
