#GetCarded for Health: Heart Health Connection to Oral Health

February 12 @ 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Learn about oral health’s impact on your heart health!
Did you know patients with chronic gum conditions such as gingivitis or advanced periodontal disease have the highest risk for heart disease caused by poor oral health, particularly if it remains undiagnosed and unmanaged? Gregory Schneider, M.D., Associate Dean for Clinical Education, Roseman University College of Medicine, and Matthew Thacker, D.D.S., from the Roseman College of Dental Medicine, will discuss how the bacteria associated with gum infection can enter the bloodstream, where they attach to the blood vessels and increase the risk for cardiovascular disease.
This project is funded by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services under Cooperative Agreement number UG4LM13725 with the University of Washington.
