Like many Western sunbelt cities, Las Vegas experienced significant growth during the mid-20th century. Following World War II, residents of Las Vegas found the city offered plenty of economic reasons to stay and make a life in Las Vegas. From the continuing need for defense industries, to the emerging service and entertainment industry on the Las Vegas Strip and everything in between, Las Vegas offered opportunities for just about anybody. These new economic opportunities ushered in the residential development boom of the mid-20th century. Mid-century neighborhoods sprouted up throughout the Las Vegas Valley like wildflowers, many of which are still happening neighborhoods today.
