The Resiliency and Justice Center (formerly the VSRC), The Stable Arena, and The Helpful Herd present a FREE STABLE Series.
The Helpful Herd invites you to come be valued and protected in a series that will demonstrate how working with horses can help you chart a course to healing.
Just being near horses can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure and heart rate, alleviate stress, and create an increased sense of wellbeing. Therapy with horses can be especially helpful to those who have experienced trauma or difficult life experiences.
Join us for some time to observe and interact with the Terri, Laura, and meet their Helpful Herd. A different experience will be offered each time, such as grooming, walking, observing, haltering, or even painting.
There are several life skills that can be learned with horses in a way that is engaging, natural and safe. Examples include identifying and coping with feelings, self-regulation, setting boundaries, building confidence, forming healthy relationships with others, and increase a positive sense of self.
Terri Keener, LCSW/Certified EMDR Therapist, and Laura Higgins, Equine Specialist, will facilitate this time to enjoy the outdoors, connect and learn. Terri and Laura collaborate with the Helpful Herd to form The Stable Arena where they specialize in equine assisted learning, therapy and EMDR for survivors of mass violence, victims of crime, first responders, emergency response personnel, military and veterans.
*Please dress for the outdoor setting and wear closed toe shoes (no steel toes). Due to weather and other circumstances, the exact time and location for these sessions may change. For any questions, feel free to call Laura at 702-768-2336.
