LAS VEGAS LIBRARIES

The Las Vegas-Clark County  Library District starts its Summer Challenge on May 16, 2023. The Las Vegas libraries annual summer reading program runs May 16 – July 15, 2023. 

The summer challenge is open to everyone from infants to adults and features fun events from Adam London and Vegas PBS as well at special STEAM programming all sumer.

For Kids & Teens (ages 0-17)

Keep your child’s education on track! Reading, science, art, math, and critical thinking skills can slide for kids & teens during summer break. Looking for solutions? The Las Vegas Library District has the answer with its FREE Summer Challenge program, where kids of all ages can win great prizes while sharpening their school skills.

For Adults (ages 18+)

The Summer Challenge isn’t just for kids anymore. Parents, caregivers, and all adults are invited, too! Participate in Summer Challenge for a chance to win items from the Las Vegas library bookstores, a telescope, a $100 Amazon Gift Card, or cool swag from the Vegas Golden Knights!

Reading + Activities = Fun All Summer Long

Kids, teens & adults will each get age-customized activities (see below) and fun reading recommendations for every ability. Then track your reading & activities in our special log, complete all three levels, and you’re eligible to win! Track your progress online through Beanstack and you will be automatically entered to win. You can also track your progress on a paper log, available at any Library District branch, then drop it off at a library desk to be entered. Kids & teens (ages 0-17) can also enter our Super Reader Challenge for another chance to win a Grand Prize Package.

Go to Beanstack to Register for the Summer Challenge

Use Beanstack from your computer or download the app for IOS or Android. 

All ages can use Beanstack to track their progress and qualify to win prizes! Simply click on Beanstack, opens a new window to get started.

It is also available as an app for either iOS, opens a new window or Android, opens a new window.

Complete all three levels on Beanstack and you will be automatically entered for a chance to win.

Printable Reading + Activities Log

You can also track your progress on our paper log, which is available at any of our libraries, OR you can print it at home:

Once the log is complete, turn it in to any Las Vegas library desk in your local branch to be entered for a chance to win.

Complete Level 1

Kids & Teens will earn a book from their local branch Youth Services Department AND an entry for a chance to win a family four-pack of digital tickets to an NBA Summer League Game.

Adults will receive a Bookstore Buck that is good for one free item from our Library District Foundation bookstores.

Complete Level 2

Kids & Teens will earn a book from their local branch Youth Services Department AND an entry for a chance to win a family four-pack of tickets to the Neon Museum.

Adults will receive a Bookstore Buck that is good for one free item from our Las Vegas Library District Foundation bookstores AND an entry for a chance to win a telescope.

Complete Level 3

Kids & Teens will earn a book from their local branch Youth Services Department and an entry for a chance to win Vegas Golden Knights Swag and Branch Grand Prizes (see below).

Adults will receive a Bookstore Buck that is good for one free item from our Library District Foundation bookstores AND an entry for a chance to win a Grand Prize (see Grand Prize section, below).

Grand Prizes

Complete all three levels of the challenge and be entered into the drawing for the Grand Prize Package!

Kids & Teens will have a chance to win a Grand Prize worth $50 from each of our branches.

Adults will have a chance to win a Grand Prize Package that includes a $100 Amazon Gift Card, Exclusive Library District Tote Bag, Las Vegas Library District Insulated Water Bottle, and Vegas Golden Knights & Library District Co-Branded T-shirt.

Super Reader Challenge Grand Prize

Super Readers (kids ages 0-17) who completed all three levels, plus the Super Reader Challenge, will earn a book from their local branch Youth Services Department and be entered for a chance to win:

Summer Reading Challenge Kick Offs

We will be kicking off our annual Summer Challenge with space themed crafts, games, and treats for the whole family.  This event is fun for all ages, free, and open to the public.

Magical Comedy with Adam London 

Magician Adam London will amaze you with his clever wit and sleight of hand at this family-friendly magical comedy show that will leave you wondering, “How did he do that?!” 

Free and open to the public. Intended for children ages 5-17 and their families and caretakers. Attendance counts as a Summer Challenge learning activity. Seating is limited and tickets may be required. For more information, please call the library branch.

Stuntmasters BMX Assembly

StuntMasters turn positive thoughts into purposeful action with world-class performances at schools, festivals, youth groups, and special events with our BMX Impact Assembly. This 45 minute action packed show and speaking performance engages students for an inspirational message they won’t forget.
